Picture it, surrounded by pines, along the landscape of mountains, enjoying a glass of libations while jamming to live music. That’s what I will be doing this summer in the Pocono Mountains.

The Poconos are known for their summer music. The lack of humidity, cool breeze of the mountains, and picturesque scenery makes it the perfect location for music festivals and concerts.

t’s FINALLY summer time in the DMV. Our extra wet spring has me yearning for all of the summer fun this year. But I cannot see myself fighting Bay Bridge traffic one more season. Just the idea of having to build in two more hours of travel time to be dead stopped of Rt 50 has my blood boiling. So instead, this year, I am headed to the Pocono Mountains. A quick 3 and a half hour drive from Northern Virginia is not only the perfect distance, but smooth sailing as well.

Whether you call it the Poconos or Pocono Mountains you cannot deny it’s beauty. Sloping mountains, shining lakes, and tree canopies make this this perfect escape from DC, Baltimore, Philly, New York and New Jersey. With just a few hours drive you have truly escaped the madness of the city and found retreat embedded in nature.
