Mountain Biking for All Levels

You cannot get better outdoor fun than the Pocono Mountains. One of our favorite ways to be outside in September is Mountain Biking in the Poconos. The cooler air (temperatures drop from mid 70s to low 60s throughout the month) is perfect for working up a sweat on the bike. The Pocono Mountains also are fully equipt for all levels of mountain biking. So bring your bike and helmet, or rent them, and head to to these trails:

Neat for Novices:

Promised Land State Park (Greentown, PA). This state park is perfect for beginners. Enjoy the 6.5 mile paved road around the lake and take in all the beautiful sights.

Intermediate at Mountain Biking:

The Switchback Trail (Jim Thorpe, PA) is two, nine miles trails that intersect. Originally a gravity rail for the coal industry, now repurposed for outdoor adventures, this trail is perfect for anyone with a little biking under their belt. Take the trail down for the easy route and enjoy lunch in downtown Jim Thorpe, or for a challenge take the trail up and really workout those leg muscles! Bike rental and shuttle service available.

Challenge Seekers:

D&L Rail Trail (165 miles from the mountains of northeast Pennsylvania through Bucks County)

This adventure is truly just that. Riding through mountains, cities, and small towns. Pick a section or loop, or complete the whole 165 miles! This trail is a combination of Asphalt, Ballast, Crushed Stone, Dirt, and Gravel, perfect riding for everyone!

Sasoned Mountain Bikers:

Delaware Water Gap (Bushkill, PA) This advanced route covers 32 miles of manicured trail perfect for mountain biking. The trail runs parallel to the Delaware River so you will have a beautiful view, cool breeze, and great opportunity to see wildlife.
