April Happenings in the Pocono Mountains

Happy April! Spring is finally here which hopefully means out with cold and in with the warm, sunny weather! Ski season is over for the year, but April is a beautiful time to visit the Pocono Mountains. Milder weather brings more outside time, which is perfect for reconnecting with nature. There are also many organized events happening. Here are our favorites for the month:

Easter Fun:

Kick off the month with The Easter Egg Express! Grab the kids and their Easter Baskets and head to the Stourbridge line and go for a ride on the Bunny Trail where you will find an egg hunt and the Easter Bunny hoppily waiting to take pictures and give special gift bags to the children. The train will depart rain or shine with specific times on April 1st, 2nd, and 8th. Adults $25.00, Children $20.00 infants- 2 and under ride free. (Approximately 1.15 hour drive from our vacation rentals)

Looking for more eggs to hunt? Hop on over to Country Junction for a free Easter Egg hunt starting from 11:00- 1:00 on April 1st, 2nd, and 8th. Pictures with the Easter Bunny will be available for purchase from 10:00- 4:00. Everyone will receive a prize for participating in the egg hunt. Events will happen rain or shine. (Approximately 35 min drive from our vacation rentals)

Multiple Restaurants in the area will host Easter Brunch and Dinner. 

Festival: 

Warming weather also brings wine tastings! Check out the Silver Birches Resort for the Wally Wine Fest April 14-16th.  Enjoy a fun filled weekend filled with wine tastings and small plates. Time slots are 2 hours long from 12:00p-2:00p or 3:00p-5:00p. Communal tables allow for you to make new friends, so enjoy live music, marketplace, and silent auctions. (Approximately 60 min drive from our vacation rentals)

Water and Nature Fun:

What better way to kick off the spring season than on the water! Bring the kids and have a “reel” good time at the Pocono Township Fishing Derby. April 15th from 8:00a-12:00p at TLC Park. Open to kids 12 and under. It’s a free event but registration is limited, so don’t wait to join. (Approximately 25 min drive from our vacation rentals)

If you love paddle boarding then we have an event you don;t want to miss! Join the Pocono Environmental Education Center for Paddle around their Ponds on April 16th.  Beginners are welcome, they will teach you everything you need to know! Make sure to dress appropriately there is a chance you might just get wet! Make sure to reserve your spot in advance. (Approximately 60 min drive from our vacation rentals)

Get the Belly Laughs In:

Looking for a good laugh?  Visit the Grierfest Comedy Show on April 22nd at 8:00p at the Sherman Theater. Headliner act Rich Carucci will be joined by PJ Morin and Stephanie Holmes.

Check out Whose Live anyways? From the hit TV show Whose line is it anyway. Saturday, April 29th at 7:30p at the Sherman Theater. Enjoy 90 minutes of improvised comedy and songs based on audience suggestions. Cast will include Ryan Stiles, Greg Proops, Jeff Davis, and Joel Murray. Be ready to come with funny suggestions as well as the chance to get on stage.

The Pocono Mountains have so much to offer in the month of April. It’s the perfect place for a quick weekend getaway from New York or DC.
